Shoring is similar to a cofferdam in the way it holds the earth back and can be installed temporarily or be left in place permanently. Shoring is used when the application calls for a continuous steel wall or several steel walls in different locations on the same site. They are most useful to stop water infiltration, loose soil infiltration, and migration of soils.
